Gazzelloni was the principal flautist with the RAI National Symphony Orchestra in Rome for 30 years and dedicatee of many works. Composers including Luciano Berio (Sequenza I for solo flute, 1958), Pierre Boulez, Bruno Maderna and Igor Stravinsky wrote pieces for him.

François Devienne (Joinville, 31 January 1759) was a French composer and professor for flute at the Paris Conservatory. He was active in Paris as a flautist, bassoonist and composer, and played bassoon at the Paris Opera. He wrote successful operas in the 1790s, including Les visitandines (1792) which brought him much success.
