He was a Bavarian court musician, a virtuoso flautist and a renowned composer. The fingering system he devised has also been adapted to other instruments, such as the oboe and the clarinet. |

Born of a French father expatriated in the Netherlands and barber by profession, Louis Drouet began learning to play the flute as a self-taught man before entering the Conservatoire de Paris at the age of seven. At 16, he was first flutist and teacher of Louis Bonaparte, Napoléon's brother, and King of Holland. After touring trips to England, the United States and Europe, in 1840 he became director of music by the Duke of Saxe-Cobourg-Gotha. |

April 29, 2023(1 event) All day Carl Joachim Andersen (Copenhagen, April 29, 1847) was a Danish flutist born in son of the flutist Christian Joachim Andersen. Both as a virtuoso and as composer of flute music, he is considered one of the best of his time. He was considered to be a tough leader and teacher and demanded as such a lot from his orchestras but through that style he reached a high level. He was the first principal flute at the Berliner Philarmoniker Orchestra. |
