A Year of Innovation
A Historic Milestone: The Inaugural Global Flute Excellence Awards
One of the most groundbreaking achievements of the year was the launch of the Global Flute Excellence Awards in January 2024 – a historic initiative made possible with the invaluable support of Sir James and Lady Jeanne Galway. Their dedication and vision helped bring this extraordinary event to life, creating an unprecedented platform to celebrate excellence in the flute world.
With 30 nominees from 16 countries and a distinguished panel of 52 judges from 19 nations, the Awards recognized outstanding achievements across 10 categories, honoring flutists, composers, teachers, emerging artists, and flute makers. Unlike a traditional competition, this initiative was designed not to rank performers but to celebrate the achievements of 2024, shining a spotlight on individuals who made a profound impact on the global flute community.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated, nominated, and supported this initiative, helping to unite the flute world through admiration, respect, and shared appreciation for the artistry and dedication that drive our field forward.
This event would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of organizer Yulia Berry and the hosting platform, Flute Almanac, the unwavering support of Sir James and Lady Jeanne Galway, and the expertise of the Judges Panel, who ensured a fair and thorough evaluation process. Their collective dedication has laid the foundation for a new tradition – one that we are excited to continue in the years to come.
